Fresno man sentenced to 18 years for 2012 killing outside bar
A Fresno man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for killing a 25-year-old man outside a bar in May 2012.
Robert Alexander Cadena, 33, learned of his punishment Wednesday in Fresno County Superior Court.
Police said an altercation at Jack Rabbit Slims Bar on Clinton Avenue west of Highway 99 ended in the parking-lot killing of Selma resident Adam Garcia, the father of two children.
After the killing, police arrested Alfred Hernandez Jr., 38, of Fresno. But Cadena, a convicted felon who has been to prison before, skipped town.
In April 2013, Hernandez pleaded no contest in Superior Court to being an accessory after a murder. He was sentenced to two years in jail.
Three months later, Mexican law enforcement officers arrested Cadena in Rosarito, Mexico. He was transported to Fresno County Jail.
On July 6 this year, Cadena pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, which resulted in his 18-year prison sentence, chief homicide prosecutor Chris Gularte said.
