Gang member arrested in southwest Fresno after loaded gun found in glove box
A gang member was arrested Aug. 8 during a traffic stop in southwest Fresno for having a loaded handgun, the Fresno Police Department said.
Police were patrolling the area of Elm and Jensen avenues when they stopped the vehicle of Ibrahim Muhammad, 35. There was a strong odor of marijuana, and they began a search of the car looking for drugs, police said.
During the search, a loaded handgun was discovered in the glove box. Muhammad told detective Henry Garcia that everything inside the car belonged to him. Muhammad was determined to be a Muhammad gang member with a prior felony conviction and lengthy criminal history, including several firearm-related arrests, police said.
Muhammad was booked into the Fresno County Jail on several charges, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm by a gang member, police said. His passenger was not charged.
The “Felon with a Gun” program offers a $500 reward for information that leads to firearm-related arrests. Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867.
