Fugitive on run from Mariposa County, last seen in Fresno area, deputies say
A man who went missing June 27 in Mariposa County is now a wanted fugitive, according to Mariposa County deputies.
Deputies conducted an extensive missing person’s search involving ground teams from various agencies in trying to locate Nathan Baptista, 39, who left to ride his dirt bike, possibly in the Midpines area, according to his family.
Ground search teams covered over 500 miles of rugged and remote terrain in an effort to locate Baptista, who was reported to be an at-risk missing person.
Deputies learned Baptista had pending federal charges and is now a fugitive from federal law enforcement who is no longerbelieved to be in Mariposa County.
Deputies said surveillance footage showed his truck and dirt bike were seen in the Fresno area.
Baptistais is wanted for violation of probation, with the original charge being sexual assault.
Deputies believe Baptista is a fugitive on the run.
Baptista is 5-foot-9 and weighs 165 pounds with black hair and hazel eyes.
He is believed to be driving a white Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, California license plate CA7B48533, and/or riding a white and blue dirt bike (unknown registration).
