Teenager shot in apartment building, Fresno police say. Shooting suspect at large
A teen was injured in a shooting Thursday at an apartment in Fresno.
Officers responded to the shooting at 6 p.m. at the 4700 block of North Polk Avenue.
When officers arrived, they went inside an apartment and located the victim with a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The victim was taken to a local hospital and his condition was unknown, Fresno police Lt. Marcus Gray II said.
Gray said the victim was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. Officers are contacting witnesses to see what led up to the shooting.
“Right now, we don’t have any information whether it was intentional or accidental,” Gray said. “We are still actively investigating the shooting.”
Police haven’t released the suspect description. Gray said there were other witnesses inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.
The small portion of the apartment complex was blocked off for a couple hours, Gray said.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
