Sheriff identifies suspect in beating, shooting near Clovis
Fresno County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man identified as Eli Guiba, 21, in connection with a shooting and a domestic violence incident Wednesday near Clovis.
Sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said the incidents took place near the intersection of Clovis and Shields avenues. Botti said two men in a white Lexus drove into the area, and one of them began to kick and punch a woman believed to be a former paramour.
A homeless man who stays in the area pepper-sprayed the man to stop the assault.
One suspect later tracked down the homeless man and fired several gunshots, striking the victim once in the arm. The victim returned fire and the suspect fled.
The bullet-riddled Lexus was found later near Divisadero and Diamond streets in downtown Fresno.
Anyone with information about where Guiba might be is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 559-498-STOP.
