Update: Victim ID’d by coroner in shooting in Fresno County. Suspect ID’d and arrested

Update: The victim killed in the shooting was identified as 38-year-old Jose Rodriguez Calderon of Raisin City. Deputies arrested 47-year-old Martin Avalos of Raisin City. He was booked into the Fresno County jail on a charge of murder.

Original story: A man was killed Friday night in a shooting in Fresno County.

Deputies responded just after 8:45 p.m. after receiving shots fired on Ormus Avenue, south of Bowles Avenue in Raisin City.

Deputies arrived and found a man in his late 30s with a gunshot wound on the street, deputies said. He was pronounced dead.

Detectives are interviewing people in nearby homes to try and learn what may have led to the shooting.

No suspect has been identified and the name of the victim is unknown, deputies said.
