School tutor working in Kerman arrested on suspicion of sex crimes involving minor
A Kerman High tutor was arrested this week on suspicion of sex crimes to a minor, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.
Central California Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force detectives arrested 28-year-old Maci Rodriguez of Kerman. She was booked into the Fresno County Jail on potential charges of arranging to meet a minor for sexual purposes and sending harmful matter to a minor.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Rodriguez served as an after-school tutor at Kerman Floyd Elementary and was working for an outside company called Teaching Fellows, which is contracted by the Kerman Unified School District. She was placed on administrative leave.
On Tuesday, the school district and Kerman Police received information concerning digital communications between Rodriguez and a middle school-aged student, who had attended Kerman Floyd Elementary in the past.
Detectives took over the case and a preliminary investigation shows Rodriguez sent messages to a student, which were sexual in nature. Authorities said no evidence has been discovered that the two ever engaged in a physical relationship.
Detectives are concerned there may be more victims who have not reported similar incidents involving Rodriguez.
