ORIGINAL STORY: The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team is responding to a Fresno County home after a man allegedly fired a gun inside the residence.
The call came in at 4 a.m. when the man fired shots in the home at a woman in the 2100 block of N. Jackson Avenue, near Clinton Avenue. Residents were able to evacuate the home safely, deputies said.
The 40-year-old gunman is believed to be still inside the home, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Tony Botti said. He said the suspect is known to them.
The Crisis Negotiation Team have been unsuccessful in getting him to surrender, deputies said.
This remains an active scene.
“Something happened to cause him to fire a gun in the direction of one of the women that lived there,” Botti said. “Fortunately she was not struck.”
People are urged to avoid the area as this is a congested neighborhood.
“It’s up to the suspect to surrender,” Botti said. “That can allow everybody in the neighborhood to get their Saturday back to them. But if we don’t get the response and we don’t get in the house to check every single nook and cranny of the place, that’s what we have to work off of. Hopefully we can have a peaceful resolution here shortly.”
