A body was found floating in the California Aqueduct west of Firebaugh on Thursday morning, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Merced California Highway Patrol called the sheriff’s office around 10:30 a.m. after workers in the area north of Nees Avenue and east of Interstate 5 reported seeing an object that resembled a body in the aqueduct, the sheriff’s office said.
Homicide detectives and the dive unit removed the body from the water. The gender, age, name and race was not immediately available.
