Fresno marijuana inspection reveals ex-con with guns
Fresno police arrested a convicted felon and seized two firearms after inspecting a marijuana-growing site Wednesday, Sgt. Paul Cervantes said.
The arrest took place about 7 p.m. in the 3000 block of East Pine Avenue, between First Street and Highway 41 south of McKinley Avenue. Cervantes said officers from the MAGEC anti-crime unit went to a home there to see if the growing operation was in compliance with regulations and determined that it was.
However, they learned that Ratanaboupapha Korana was a convicted felon and had a loaded .380 semi-automatic pistol in a safe and another firearm in a garage. He was booked into Fresno County Jail but posted bail just before 2 a.m.
So far this year, Cervantes said, MAGEC units have seized 195 firearms.
