An officer with the Fresno Police Department was injured early Sunday morning in an alleged DUI hit-and-run in the Tower District.

The incident happened before 2 a.m. after officers responded to a fight in front of a nightclub at Olive and Linden avenues, Lt. Leslie Williams said.

As officers were investigating the fight, a vehicle traveling eastbound on Olive struck an officer that knocked him to the ground and injuring him, Williams said.

The vehicle slowed briefly, then continued driving eastbound on Olive before becoming stuck in traffic.

Officers detained the woman driver and a man who was the passenger.

After their investigation, officers arrested the woman for felony DUI and felony hit-and-run. She was booked into Fresno County jail.

The officer received medical treatment at the hospital and has been since discharged, Williams said
