Driver accused of being drunk in crash that killed motorcycle rider in Clovis, police say

A woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drunken driving after a collision that killed a man on a motorcycle, according to Clovis police.

The motorcycle rider collided with a small SUV about 10:45 a.m. on Barstow Avenue between Sunnyside and Fowler avenues, according to Ty Wood, the spokesperson for the Clovis Police Department.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

He was identified on Thursday as Josh Cowdrey, 37, of Clovis, according to the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Officers arrested the woman in the SUV on suspicion of DUI during the fatal crash, Wood said. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

Wood said the collision did not involve any students from nearby Clovis High School.
