Man stabbed to death by roommate in unprovoked attack at Fresno home, police say

A Fresno man was stabbed to death in an apparent unprovoked attack inside of a residence in northeast Fresno, police said on Friday.

Dale Whitley, 26, died after at least one stab wound to his upper body around 8 p.m. Thursday on Dakota Avenue between Cedar and Millbrook avenues, police said in a news release.

When police arrived, 53-year-old Jon Palomino was walking away from the home as witnesses directed officers to him, the release said. He was detained and has since been accused of the intentional homicide, police said.

Officers entered the residence and found Whitley unresponsive with a stab wound, police said.

Emergency personnel arrived but Whitley was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators determined the two men lived at the home with other men, and that the stabbing inside the home appeared to be unprovoked, police said.

Officers could not immediately say what led to the fatal violence.
