A child and two people were injured Saturday night in a shooting at an apartment near McKinley and Olive avenues in east-central Fresno.

Officers responded to the shooting that happened at 7:45 p.m. at 4421 E. Hedges Avenue and found three victims, including a 5-year-old with a gunshot wound to the lower body, Lt. Marcus Gray II said.

The two other victims — a woman who was shot in the left arm and a juvenile with a wound to the neck — were taken to a local hospital.

All three victims were listed in stable condition, Gray said.

Officers learned that there was a large gathering at the apartment and it was unclear what led up to the shooting or if it was a family disturbance.

“We’re still gathering information to determine whether or not the individuals related to this family came in or if it’s just a huge family disturbance,” Gray said.

“It was a family party that was happening in the area.”

Gray said multiple shots were fired.

It’s unknown how many suspects were involved in the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
