Man sentenced to 15 years in 2014 slaying of his brother

Kejohn Ferguson was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday for shooting and killing his brother, Anthony Scott, in 2014.

The Fresno County Superior Court sentence was the result of a plea deal Ferguson, 18, took while facing murder charges. He received the maximum sentence allowable for a voluntary manslaughter charge, 11 years, plus a 4-year gun enhancement charge.

Ferguson must also pay more than $10,000 in restitution charges to his mother and other family members.

Fresno Police Sgt. David Ramsey said Ferguson shot Scott, 23, with a sawed-off shotgun on Oct. 22 during an argument over drugs. He then ran from the central Fresno home and was arrested a few blocks away.

Ramsay said Scott was a gang member, while Ferguson was a gang associate. They had a history of not getting along, he added.

Ferguson was 17 at the time of the crime but was charged as an adult.
