Two juveniles arrested after crashing stolen vehicle in Fresno neighborhood, police say

The Fresno Police Department investigated a collision Wednesday afternoon after the alleged suspects stole a vehicle and crashed it in a central Fresno neighborhood.

The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. at Princeton and Harrison avenues after the police helicopter reviewed the pending stolen vehicle calls and saw the Hyundai matching it and followed.

Police said the vehicle didn’t yield for a stop sign and collided with another vehicle at Princeton and Harrison.

Officers responded and took the driver and passenger into custody.

The driver was a juvenile and arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, burglary tool possession, resisting and probation, police said. The passenger was also arrested for stolen vehicle, possession of stolen vehicle. Both were also arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime.

One person in the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital for a complaint of pain.

Detectives believe the juveniles may be influenced by the TikTok challenge, but that was under investigation.

Police asked for any owners of Kia and Hyundai to pick up a free steering wheel locks by picking them up at any five substations (3080 W. Shaw, 224 S. Argyle, 1211 Fresno Street, 1450 E. Teague, 3502 N. Blackstone on second floor).
