33-year-old Fresno bicyclist identified by coroner after fatal hit-and-run collision

The bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle Saturday night died the next day in a Fresno hospital.

The coroner on Monday identified the victim as 33-year-old Paul Sanchez of Fresno.

The collision happened just after 10 p.m. at Clinton Avenue and Van Ness Boulevard when officers responded and found Sanchez lying near the sidewalk.

Sanchez was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died Sunday.

Police said witnesses provided officers with information that a dark-colored vehicle left the scene eastbound on Clinton towards Wishon Avenue after the collision.

Officers were canvassing for surveillance video and any additional evidence, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
