Man injured in shooting in Fresno, police say. A vehicle chased another before crash

Police investigated a shooting Saturday night that sent a man to a Fresno hospital.

Officers responded to the area of Shields and Brawley avenues just after 11 p.m. about a vehicle chasing another when shots were fired, Fresno police Lt. Marcus Gray said.

Officers located a man at a nearby apartment complex with a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Gray said.

While officers responded to the shooting, a two-vehicle collision occurred near Ashlan and Blythe avenues that was related to the shooting, Gray said.

“We’re still investigating the shooting to determine exactly who’s involved and figure out where these suspects are,” Gray said.

Officers were investigating a black vehicle that was behind the Dollar General.

It was unknown if the shooting was gang-related, Gray said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
