Double homicide, child critically injured in Fresno County foothill home, sheriff says
Investigators were at the scene of a double homicide on Thursday that also left a child in critical condition, according to Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni.
Deputies received a call of an injured person about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 47000 block of Dunlap Road in Miramonte, the sheriff’s office said. That’s west of Highway 245.
Deputies arrived to find two adults who appeared to have been killed though Zanoni stopped short of describing the circumstances of their deaths. A child around 12 years old was transported to a Community Regional Medical Center in critical condition, he said.
It took some time for deputies to reach the rural home, Zanoni said.
“We’re probably at 3,500 feet in elevation,” he said in a video at the scene. “Typically this is one of our quieter areas, but unfortunately this evening that quiet was shattered by our call for service.”
There were five people in the home at the time of the violence, he said. Detectives were speaking to those witnesses, and no suspects were immediately identified by investigators.
Deputies initially released the description of a vehicle they said may have been connected to a suspect, but in an update about 10:50 a.m. said there were no outstanding suspects.
“The community is not in danger,” the update said.
Anyone with information was asked by deputies to call Detective Aurelio Flores at 559-600-8208.
