Police are investigating a double stabbing Thursday night in central Fresno and wondering if it was self-defense.

Officers arrived at an apartment just before 8:30 p.m. at West Dakota and North Teilman avenues, of reports of a family disturbance that led to a stabbing.

Fresno police Lt. Henry Garcia III said two cousins were living together when one of them told the other to move out.

One began calling other family members including her boyfriend, who responded and started moving items out of the apartment before the two cousins get into a fight. One of the cousins pulled out a knife and stabbed her female cousin and her boyfriend.

One victim was taken to a local hospital and the other self-transported with a stab wound to the leg.

The wounds were considered non-life threading, Garcia said.

“We’re still trying to figure it out,” Garcia said. “Detectives are out there. They’re still trying to figure it out if it’s self-defense or not.”
