Half-sister among two arrested on suspicion of killing Fresno woman, police say

Two people were under arrest Tuesday on suspicion of killing a 61-year-old woman — the half-sister of one of the suspects, Fresno police said.

Patty Kennett was reported missing Nov. 15, police said. Her family had been told she was injured doing yard work and was taken to a Fresno-area hospital, police said.

After the family could not find her, they reported her missing. Police said they began an investigation and found no record of Kennett being transported by ambulance or being admitted to a hospital.

After using a warrant to search the home of Kennett’s half-sister, 54-year-old Lisa Hinthorne, police said they discovered a crime scene and evidence of foul play. She was also the last person to see Kennett before she disappeared, according to police.

Video evidence led police to identify Hinthorne as a suspect along with 33-year-old Glenn Howard, according to a news release.

Patty Kennett, 61, was killed Nov. 15, 2023, and two people have been accused of her murder, Fresno police said.

Three days later, on Nov. 18, police found Kennett’s Infiniti coupe, which was also reported missing, in Madera. Investigators said they found blood in the trunk.

Police said Howard led detectives to Coalinga, where they found Kennett’s body in a secluded area near Highway 198 and Coalinga Mineral Springs Road.

Howard was arrested Nov. 18 on suspicion of being an accessory to murder, police said. He was held in lieu of $5,000 bail at Fresno County Jail on Tuesday, records show.

Hinthorne was arrested Tuesday, according to police. She’s accused of murder. Details on her bail were not immediately available, but she was in custody at the jail, records show.
