Man shot multiple times in Fresno alley. Officers apply tourniquet to save his life
A man shot multiple times Sunday morning in southeast Fresno was taken into surgery at Community Regional Medical Center and is in critical condition, Fresno police reported.
The man, in his 30s, was struck by bullets several times in his lower extremities, according to Lt. Paul Cervantes. Arriving officers quickly applied a tourniquet to control the loss of blood before he was taken to the hospital.
Police were clearing a nearby house in a search for the assailant in the aftermath of the incident, Cervantes said.
The shooting took place just after 9 a.m. close to an alley near El Monte and Recreation avenues, near the major intersection of Kings Canyon Road and Chestnut Avenue.
Police called in a tactical team to remove residents from the nearby home as they looked for the shooter as well as evidence related to the incident.
