Fresno police found a 45-year-old homeless man who had been shot in the leg in the Tower District early Tuesday after the department’s new gunfire location technology reported the incident.
The incident took place on Thorne Avenue near Dennett Avenue, about a block south of Olive Avenue and four blocks west of Palm Avenue, about 1:30 a.m.
Lt. Joe Gomez said the man is on parole for bank robbery and narcotics possession. He told officers that he was walking in the neighborhood and stopped at a house where he used to live to remember the good times. He continued walking south on Thorne when a sedan pulled up and someone said, “All right [expletive] and fired four or five rounds at him.
Struck once, the man ran north on Thorne until he was met by officers. The man said that he could identify the gunman but would not. He later said that he did not get a good look at the shooter.
