The suspect in a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in January has been arrested and is awaiting extradition back to Fresno.

Kevin King was taken into custody in Garvin County, Oklahoma on Thursday, according to a news release from the Fresno Police Department sent Friday.

The 43-year-old was wanted on suspicion of voluntary manslaughter, after police said that he negligently fired a gun inside an apartment complex on Blythe Avenue near Ashlan.

A bullet penetrated a common wall into another apartment where it struck and killed a 51-year-old man.

There were at least five people inside the apartment, police said at the time, including children. The victim, identified as Victor Becerra, was taken to Community Regional Medical Center, where he died.

King was quickly named as a suspect in the shooting, but fled the Fresno area.

Police continue to look for anyone with information on the case.
