Teen dies and driver faces manslaughter charge after rollover crash in Fresno County
A teenager was killed and the driver arrested on a manslaughter charge after a pickup crashed early Sunday and overturned on Elkhorn Avenue in Fresno County.
The silver Toyota Tacoma was headed west on Elkhorn in the Riverdale area at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and the truck flipped multiple times, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 16-year-old passenger, who authorities said was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle by the force of the crash. Emergency personnel arrived and attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.
Three other people, including the driver, suffered minor injuries consisting of cuts and a complaint of pain, but refused medical aid at the scene.
The 26-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and manslaughter.
