On the run since the ’90s, Tulare County man convicted of child sex crimes, DA says

A man who fled Tulare County three decades ago after being questioned over child sex crimes has been convicted by a jury, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Patrick McNeil, 65, who lived in Lindsay in 1993, was convicted Tuesday of three counts of a forcible lewd act on a child under 14, one count of a lewd act on a child age 14 and sexual penetration of a person under 16, prosecutors said in a news release.

McNeil was questioned by law enforcement in 1993 after two girls — one 9 and the other 14 — reported being sexually abused by him, prosecutors said. The acts happened between 1991 and 1993.

Police spoke with McNeil, who then fled the state. He remained on the lam until he was arrested in Alabama in 2021 after being accused of sex crimes against two victims there, the news release said.

The Alabama case remains open, prosecutors said.

A sentencing hearing in the Tulare case is set for March 6.

Patrick McNeil, 65, was found guilty of sex crimes against children in Tulare County, the District Attorney’s Office said Friday, Jan. 27, 2023.
