Traver man gets prison in bathroom attack at 49ers game
Amador Rebollero of Traver was sentenced Monday to five years in state prison for attacking two men in a restroom at a San Francisco 49er’s football game at Levi’s Stadium, the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office said.
Rebollero, 28, pleaded no contest to one count of assault with a deadly weapon likely to cause great bodily injury and the special allegation of personally inflicting great bodily injury, and to assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury involving a second victim.
On Oct. 5 last year, Rebollero was in line to use the restroom when one of the victims nudged him on the shoulder to point out an available urinal, authorities said.
Rebollero became verbally aggressive and “sucker punched” the victim, hit him in the head several times and knocked him unconscious, authorities said. The attack caused brain injury that required emergency surgery and the victim might be paralyzed, reports at the time said.
His current condition is not being made public at the request of the family, the District Attorney’s Office said Monday.
The victim’s cousin tried to help him and was attacked by Rebollero and his brother Dario, 35, of Traver, authorities said.
Dario Rebollero has pleaded not guilty to assault with a deadly weapon likely to cause great bodily injury. A jury trial has been set for Aug. 31.
