Visalia man sought for carjacking, taking victim to rural area

Authorities are looking for a man who held a woman at gunpoint, drove her to a remote location, dropped her off and drove away in her vehicle Friday in Visalia, the Visalia Police Department said.

The victim was about to back out of her driveway near Tulare Avenue and Conyer Street at 8:50 a.m. when a man approached her vehicle with a gun, police say. He demanded the victim’s purse and wallet before having her move to the back seat.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, drove the woman to Road 140 and Avenue 248 in Tulare County, where he told her to get out. He then drove off, police say.

The victim managed to flag down a passerby and was taken to the police department. She was unhurt.
