Visalia police arrest felon in shooting

Visalia police arrested a man Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a gun.

About 6 p.m. July 3, gunfire erupted in the 1100 block on North Stover Street during an argument. The parties fled before police arrived.

The victim was found at a local hospital in critical condition. He’s now listed in stable condition, police said.

Detectives learned that Josh Hammond, 50, of Visalia, shot him, police said.

About 12:30 p.m. Thursday, they saw Hammond driving a vehicle. He pulled into a parking lot in the 2200 block of E. Mineral King Avenue and police arrested him without incident.
