Kings jury convicts Fresno man in attempted murder
A Kings County Superior Court jury convicted a Fresno man of attempted murder for shooting a man during a robbery at a hotel in Hanford, the Kings County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.
Tavarie Epperson, 21, was also found guilty of burglary and two counts of robbery.
On June 19, 2014, Epperson and two men traveled to the Holiday Lodge hotel in Hanford and shot a man standing outside of his room after demanding money, the District Attorney’s Office said.
As the victim fled for his life, they kept firing, authorities said. Epperson and the others entered the victim’s hotel room, where they robbed his girlfriend at gunpoint.
Epperson faces more than 20 years to life in prison. Sentencing is set for Aug. 6.
