Five men were arrested Wednesday after allegedly selling five pounds of crystal meth to an undercover narcotics detective, the Fresno Police Department said.

Sgt. Joe Gomez said the suspects allegedly delivered on the deal after three weeks of negotiation. Three of the five suspects ran from the scene at Olive and Cedar avenues, but the men were caught after additional officers arrived.

The suspects — two 19-year-old men, two 26-year-old men, and one 25-year-old man — were arrested on suspicion of various drug and weapons offenses, police said. A search of one of the suspect’s vehicles produced a loaded assault rifle with a high-capacity magazine.

No other details were immediately released, Gomez said, because the investigation is ongoing.
