Five shot outside California town after argument over a street race, deputies say
Five people were shot Sunday night after an argument over a drag race on a rural road, the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies investigated near Avenue 208 and Road 84 southwest of the city of Tulare after several people suffered gunshot wounds about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s office said.
One person drove to an area hospital on their own and four others were transported by ambulance, deputies said.
The extent of their injuries was not immediately available Monday.
Deputies said they learned multiple people were street racing in the area and an argument was sparked after someone was angry about the outcome.
They pulled a gun and fired several times, the sheriff’s office said. No suspect description was available.
