Bicyclist severely injured during hit-and-run in Fresno County. CHP seeks details on suspect

California Highway Patrol

A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run Saturday evening in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol said the collision happened at 6:50 p.m. in the area of West Central and South Fig avenues.

Officers responded to the collision and found a man lying on the roadway. The man was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

CHP Sgt. Nicholas Norton said there is no vehicle description, but said they believe the bicyclist was on Central, east of Fig when he was struck by a vehicle. His age is not immediately known.

“We do believe it’s a hit-and-run just based upon the damage to the bike and the injuries he sustained,” Norton said.

Norton said the front tire to the BMX bike was missing and the rims were badly damaged.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call CHP at 559-262-0400.
