A man has been arrested on suspicion of breaking the windshields and windows of dozens of Tulare County vehicles in a vandalism spree that occurred over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Visalia police said Wednesday.

Michael Allen Ray, 52, was arrested Tuesday after police used video footage to get a good description of a suspect.

About 7:30 July 5, police received a call that windshields and windows had been smashed on 47 vehicles parked in county lots near the Tulare County civic center in Visalia.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Department contacted detectives to tell them a man who fit the description had been ordered into custody by a judge on an unrelated matter.

Police said they made a positive identification, located witnesses and evidence, and arrested Ray on suspicion of commercial burglary and felony vandalism.
