An Auberry man who was involved in a continuation school and Boy Scouts troop is accused of sodomy of a minor, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

The arrest of David Nehring, 81, was part of an ongoing investigation by the sheriff’s Sex Crimes Unit, according to a news release.

He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on Sept. 8 on suspicion of sodomy with a minor, but has since posted bond and was released, deputies said.

Nehring was able to engage with minors because of his involvement with the troop, Sandy Bluffs Alternative Education Center and Auberry Volunteer Fire Department, investigators said.

Detectives continue to look for other potential victims, the release said.

Anyone with information is asked by the sheriff’s office to call Detective Andrew Moreno at 559-974-6634, or email andrew.moreno@fresnosheriff.org.

Anyone can submit tips and remain anonymous through Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867, valleycrimestoppers.org.
