Man found dead in Tower District area is among a rash of killings Saturday in Fresno

A man was found dead on a sidewalk in Fresno’s Tower District area, one of four people killed in three separate incidents Saturday in the city as of early afternoon.

An autopsy Saturday morning showed trauma to his body, and his death has been ruled a homicide, Fresno Deputy Police Chief Burke Farrah said.

The man, who was not identified, was found in the area of Fulton Street and Belmont Avenue, just north of Highway 180.

Farrah said he didn’t have more information immediately available as of Saturday afternoon because he had not been able to speak with investigators about the case.

Stabbing kills one; mom, baby die in shooting

Fresno police were also investigating other Saturday homicides.

A fatal stabbing just after midnight in downtown Fresno.

The shooting late Saturday morning in southwest Fresno that left a teenage mother and her newborn baby dead.

Fresno’s homicide total climbed to 45 this year.
