Man leaving work shot multiple times in parking lot. What Fresno police know

A man was shot Thursday night as he was leaving work in southwest Fresno.

The shooting happened at 10 p.m. in the area of South Elm and East Annadale avenues.

Fresno Police Lt. Ignacio Ruiz said officers found the man, described as in his late 30s, with multiple gunshot wounds in his vehicle in a business parking lot.

He was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Ruiz said the suspect was standing outside of the private parking lot and fired multiple shots, striking the victim and the vehicle.

The motive for the shooting is not known. Officers were canvassing for surveillance video to see what led up to the shooting.

“As far as suspect information or vehicles, we don’t have anything solid that we’re going to release right now,” Ruiz said. “We want to confirm it and provide accurate information when we do get that.

“It is our understanding he was just getting ready to leave work. There may have been other individuals standing around and could’ve been hanging out after leaving work. We don’t know all the details.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
