Father and his three sons beat a man at a Fresno hotel, police say. He died 5 days later

Officers have arrested a father and his three sons after they allegedly beat a victim to death, kicking him in the head as he lay unconscious, Fresno police said Thursday.

Officers found Jose Martinez, 19, unconscious near a pool at The Roadway Inn near Blackstone and Ashlan avenues after a 911 call about 7:30 p.m. July 1, according to a news release.

Emergency personnel took Martinez to Community Regional Medical Center, where he remained in the intensive care unit for several days, police said.

Martinez was beaten by three men and a teen near the pool and, even after he was knocked unconscious, the attackers continued to beat him and kick him in the head, police said.

Martinez died July 6, police said.

Officers arrested Matthew Falcon Sr., 39, and his three sons: Matthew Falcon Jr., 21; Michael Falcon, 19; and a 17-year-old.

The Falcons were arrested Wednesday at a hotel near Jensen and East avenues, police said, on suspicion of murder.

The three elder Falcons were booked into Fresno Jail without bail, according to jail records.

The 17-year-old was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center, according to a news release.
