Lindsay man found guilty in shotgun murder
A Lindsay man who served as his own lawyer has been found guilty of murder and faces life in prison without the possibility of parole, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.
Frank Vasquez, 35, who has two prior prison terms and a gang assault on his record, was found guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder with the special allegation of robbery, being a felon in possession of a firearm and other charges.
On Nov. 28, 2014, Vasquez drove to a Plainview home with his roommate, officials said.
He asked for illegal drugs but was turned down. Vasquez drove away, parked down the street and returned with a shotgun. His roommate fled when he saw the shotgun.
In the dark, Vasquez approached three men in the front yard, said, “Give me everything you have,” shot the victim and took his wallet.
He was arrested six days later in Monterey County.
Sentencing is scheduled Aug. 27 at the South County courthouse in Porterville.
