‘Grandmotherly’ woman sought in $6,000 Fresno purse snatch

Fresno police are looking for a woman suspected of stealing a purse with $6,000 from another woman in southeast Fresno.

The incident took place May 19 just after noon in the Vallarta Supermarket in the 4800 block of East Butler Avenue. Sgt. Mark Hudson says surveillance shows the woman stalking the victim through the store and removing the victim’s purse from a shopping cart.

Police described the suspect as a “grandmotherly looking” Hispanic woman, 4-feet, 10-inches tall and 170 pounds. She was wearing glasses, knee-length blue jean shorts, a dark colored short sleeve shirt and brown sandals.
