Arrest made in Madera County officer-involved shooting

A man wanted in an auto theft case that ended in an officer-involved shooting last week in the Madera County foothills was arrested in Northern California, Madera County sheriff’s officials confirmed Tuesday.

Kyle Snipes, 29, was arrested by Roseville Police Department on Monday night on a parole violation and a Fresno County warrant for narcotics and weapons charges.

Snipes was wanted for questioning in the officer-involved shooting incident in the Madera County foothills above Millerton lake on Thursday.

A Fresno County sheriff’s deputy killed a suspect who pointed a rifle at officers from inside a home where they followed a stolen vehicle. Snipes had driven a stolen vehicle to the house where the deadly confrontation occurred, but fled the scene during the incident, authorities said.

Snipes will be returned to Fresno County Jail and booked on the warrant. Investigation continues into his involvement with the stolen vehicle and events surrounding the fatal shooting last Thursday.
