Fresno police are investigating an early-morning shooting at a central Fresno apartment complex that left two people dead and two others injured.

Police responded about 4 a.m. Saturday to the Pleasant Village apartments in the 3600 block of North Pleasant Avenue, between Shields and Dakota avenues just east of Highway 99, after receiving a report of multiple shots fired from ShotSpotter, the police department’s electronic gunshot surveillance system.

Lt. Bill Dooley said when officers arrived they found three victims of a shooting. Despite life-saving efforts from police and emergency medical personnel, a 29-year-old male and a 23-year-old male were pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a 28-year-old male was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and treated for his gunshot wounds.

He was listed in critical but stable condition Saturday morning. A fourth gunshot victim was dropped off at CRMC. She is identified as a 23-year-old female and was in stable condition, Dooley said.

Police said an after-hours party was happening in a nearby apartment complex when the gunshots rang out.

Dooley said detectives still do not know the motive of the shootings and are encouraging people who were at the party or who may know something to contact police.
