Teenager in the hospital after a stabbing in central Fresno. A passer-by stopped to help

A teenager was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after he was stabbed at least once in central Fresno.

Fresno Police Sgt. Diana Trueba Vega said the stabbing happened at 1:52 p.m. in the area of North Fresno Street and East Shields Avenue.

Officers arrived and found the teenager, who police believe is 17 years old, inside a vehicle with a good Samaritan who stopped to help. The teenager was suffering from at least once stab wound to the upper body.

The teenager was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. His condition was not known, Trueba Vega said.

It was unknown how many suspects were involved in the stabbing or the actual location where it happened, Trueba Vega said. Officers are looking for the crime scene of occurrence.
