A 40-year-old Tulare County man died Saturday after a fight in which investigators say he was stabbed by his stepson.

The victim, Juventino Quiroz, was involved in dispute at his home in the 21000 block of Brooks Avenue in Tonyville, near Lindsay, according to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Family members took him to Kaweah Health Medical Center in Visalia, where detectives were called about 4:40 a.m. to investigate.

Quiroz was in critical condition when detectives arrived; he later died of his injuries.

Homicide detectives identified the suspect as Quiroz’s stepson, 23-year-old Octavio Alvarado Garcia of Lindsay. The investigation revealed that Quiroz and Garcia got into a fight that was started by Garcia, deputies said.

Investigators tracked Garcia to a hospital in Selma, where he was arrested before being booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Facility.
