Two men were shot Wednesday evening while sitting inside a vehicle in southeast Fresno, police said.

The shooting took place around 9 p.m. inside an apartment complex on the 400 block of South Chestnut Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found two shooting victims — one man in his 50s with a wound to the arm and the other in his 20s with two wounds to the leg.

The men were transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where they were listed in stable condition and expected to be OK.

Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley said the suspect(s) came from behind while the men were sitting in a car and fired shots. Witnesses told police they heard 15 to 20 shots and “a lot of shell casings” were found, Dooley said.

Police believe the men were the intended targets. The apartment wasn’t struck and no one else was injured.

It is unknown if it is gang related and how many suspects were involved, Dooley said.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 559-621-7000.
