Family disturbance leads to shooting in northeast Fresno, police say

A man in his 40s was shot in the upper body Saturday evening in northeast Fresno, police said.

Officers arrived around 7 p.m. to North Fifth Street and East Sierra Avenue and found the man with a single gunshot wound inside the home.

The man was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.

Fresno Police Lt. Bill Dooley said a family disturbance turned physical before a shot was fired. The suspect was detained and is being cooperative with detectives.

The investigation is ongoing.
