Tulare County detectives arrest man in Reedley after fatal overnight shooting near Kingsburg
A man sought in a fatal shooting Thursday night near Kingsburg was taken into custody Friday morning after Tulare County Sheriff’s detectives tracked him down in Reedley.
He was identified as Gerardo Ortega, 34.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Ashley Schwarm said a 47-year-old man was the victim of the shooting in the 4100 block of Avenue 400, east of Kingsburg in Tulare County. He was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds inside a home. Ortega reportedly lived on the same property as the victim.
Detectives drove to a Fresno County address Friday, where they found Ortega near South and Frankwood avenues and took him into custody without incident. They also recovered an assault rifle suspected to be the weapon involved in the slaying.
