Police: Man blows through red light after drinking alcohol, kills motorcyclist in Visalia

A motorcyclist is dead after being struck by a driver who didn’t stop for a red light in Visalia on Thursday night after drinking alcohol, Visalia police said.

The male motorcyclist was not named by police. He died at an area hospital after being struck at Caldwell Avenue and West Street around 8:30 p.m.

Police said the driver who hit him is Bryan Buhl, 42, who was arrested. Police said Buhl admitted to failing to stop for a red light and to consuming alcohol.

Buhl was traveling westbound on Caldwell Avenue when he failed to stop for a red light at West Street and attempted a U-turn, police said, turning into the path of a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Caldwell at West Street on a green light.

The crash remains under investigation.
