Former Fresno County sheriff’s deputy sentenced for domestic violence conviction
A former Fresno County Sheriff’s deputy convicted of domestic violence was sentenced to three years probation on Thursday.
David Raquenio, 52, will have to continue attending the Batterer’s Intervention Program, perform 40 hours of community service and report back to court on Sept. 18 to review his compliance, said Judge Jon Kapetan.
Raquenio’s attorney Elizabeth Morgan said her client has already completed nearly half of his required program classes.
Police said Raquenio was arrested on May 20, 2019 on domestic violence allegations involving his ex-girlfriend. Three months later, while out on bail, he was arrested again and charged with multiple counts of dissuading a witness and criminal contempt.
Court records show that despite a protective order, Raquenio tried repeatedly to get the victim to drop the domestic violence charge against him, saying it would cause him to lose his income, house and cars. He also threatened to kill himself if he was convicted of domestic violence, according to court documents.
Raquenio is no longer working for the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, where he served for 19 years.
