Fresno man beaten, robbed of car by 14-year-old in central Fresno
A Fresno man was badly beaten early Monday by a 14-year-old as the man was robbed of his car in central Fresno, police reported.
The robbery took place about 7 a.m. as the man was getting in his car in the area of North Fresno Street and East Belmont Avenue. Sgt. Ray Villalvazo said the victim’s face was badly swollen from blows inflicted by the teen, who sped away in the car.
Police arrived a short time later, and as they were gathering information about the robbery from the victim, they spotted the juvenile driving by at the wheel of the car.
“There he goes, there’s my car,” said the victim.
Officers followed the teen as he fled north on Fresno Street, through a neighborhood, before colliding with other cars at Fresno Street and Olive Avenue at a high rate of speed.
The victim was brought to the crash scene to identify the suspect; he arrived holding an ice pack to his face, with numerous visible cuts and bruises. The teen was booked into the Fresno County Juvenile Justice facility.
